I’m delighted to be included in the exhibition at the Maine Museum of Photographic Arts opening today, October 4th! The opening reception is tonight from 5-8 pm, but I unfortunately cannot be there since I am teaching up in Rockport. But it looks to be a wonderful exhibition given the artist list. I have three pieces included, all from my project entitled A Field Guide to the Pyrocene. The exhibition will be up until November 30th, 2024.

I’m pleased to have three pieces included in the new Nocturne 2024 exhibition at the Maine Art Gallery in Wiscasset. I’ll be there for the opening 5-7 pm tomorrow, September 14th. The exhibition continues through October 20th, 2024.

Artist Talk Tomorrow at Blue Raven Gallery!

I’m giving an artist talk tomorrow, December 15th, at 4-5 pm at the Blue Raven Gallery in Rockland. I’ll be talking about the work in the current exhibition and all of my environmental advocacy photography…hope to see you there!

I’m excited to be included in the Aether: The Fifth Element exhibition at the new Blue Raven Gallery in Rockland, ME. You can see five large pieces from my Memory of Nature project in this group exhibition. The opening is tomorrow, November 17th from 4-6 pm, and the exhibition extends until 2024. Creative Destruction

I’m excited to announce that I’m part of a paired solo exhibition at Garage Gallery in Beacon, NY, with an opening reception this coming Saturday from 4-7 pm. The exhibition, entitled Creative Destruction, pairs destroyed (and non-destroyed) work from my series The Anthropocene Surveys with the wonderful work of Caroline Burton. The exhibition runs from June 10th-25th on weekends. I look forward to seeing the exhibition on the walls this weekend at the opening reception!

Annals of the Former World Exhibition Update

I’ve been so grateful for the reaction to my current exhibition at Cove Street Arts, and I wanted to share a few links about it here. First, the gallery has a great new page that includes everything in the show. They also created a video showing the exhibition, too.

The always-useful resource What Will You Remember? features this exhibition in this month’s recommended exhibitions in the New England area.

And I love the review of the exhibition by Edgar Allen Beem in the Portland Phoenix recently, too.

The exhibition will be up through September 24th, 2022, so there is still time to see it if you haven’t yet!

Annals of the Former World at Cove Street Arts

My Annals of the Former World project is on exhibition at Cove Street Arts in Portland, Maine through September 24th, 2022. There is an opening reception this coming Thursday, August 11th, from 5-7 pm, and I will of course be making the journey down.

The exhibition is based on my handmade artist book and basically includes all of the photographs from the book (with the exhibition curated by Bruce Brown). You can view and purchase a copy of the book at the exhibition as well.

I haven’t seen this exhibition on the walls yet myself so I greatly look forward to seeing it on Thursday. I hope to see many of you there!

Griffin Museum 28th Annual Members Juried Show

One of my new photographs has been included in the Griffin Museum of Photography’s 28th Annual Members Juried Show that just opened. There is an opening this coming Sunday, July 10th, from 4-6 pm at the main gallery in Winchester, MA. I’ll be there and hope to see some of you there! The exhibition runs until September 4th as well.

This is the first public exhibition of work from my new Memory of Nature project and I can’t wait to see it on the wall.

Summer Moon I

Work from my Adventures in Celestial Mechanics project is included in a new exhibition at the Thos. Moser Gallery in Freeport, Maine. The exhibition, entitled “Celebrating 50 Years of Fine Art and Craft”, is up now and will continue through the end of January 2023. Check it out if you are passing through Freeport this year - the show included some wonderful photography, painting, and more.

Our Maine at the Maine Art Gallery

I’m honored to be included in the new exhibition at the Maine Art Gallery in Wiscasset. The exhibition, entitled “Our Maine”, includes the works of Lisa Mossel Vietze, Olga Merrill, the late Terry Hire, as well as my work. There are over 90 photographs featured in the exhibition, and as someone who has seen all of the work before, I can vouch for how beautiful it is.

I’ll be at the opening reception this Saturday from 4-7 pm, and hope to see you there!

September Exhibition at new Garage Gallery in Beacon, NY

I'm thrilled to be part of the inaugural exhibition of the new Garage Gallery in Beacon, NY, in a two-person exhibition entitled “Time and Tide” with the wonderful painter M'Liz Keefe! The exhibition is up now and the opening reception is tomorrow, September 11th, from 3-6 pm. I will be there and hope any of you out there who are in that area come to check it out! The exhibition continues through September 26th.

Summer 2021 Exhibitions & Galleries

Emerald Lake #1, Yoho National Park, British Columbia, Canada

As things start to return to normal again, you can find my work in two exhibitions at the moment. Kingman Gallery (in Deer Isle, ME) is open for the season and a number of my photographs are on display there along with those of other gallery artists.

Additionally, a large selection of my work is being exhibited at FP3 Gallery in the Fort Point area of Boston, located at 346 Congress St. in Boston in the FP3 Condos (but is on the publicly accessible ground floor). I’ve included a few installation shots of this below.

"Our Maine" Zoom Artist Talk

Pale Fire, Canto One III

I’m excited to participate in the Zoom-based artist talk for the “Our Maine” exhibition at Rockland’s Archipelago Gallery. You can register for the free event here, and the talk will run from 2-3 pm on July 8th. Without in-person big events like openings on First Friday, this is a nice substitute! And, of course, the gallery is open to visitors and maintaining social distancing guidelines.

I’m very pleased to be included in the “Our Maine” exhibition opening June 24th at the Archipelago Gallery in Rockland, Maine. A wide selection of newer work from my Harmony of the Spheres project, mostly from the Pale Fire series, is included.

The exhibition includes four other photographers as well — Olga Merrill, Lisa Mossel Vietze, Josie Iselin, and the late Terry Hire (a great friend of mine who we lost in January). Because of the pandemic, there will not be a traditional opening, but stay tuned for more details on what the gallery will be able to provide.

Iceland Exhibition at Kingman Gallery

I’m excited to announce the opening of my new solo exhibition at Kingman Gallery in Deer Isle, Maine. The exhibition is up and running now and extends through September 8th. We’re having an opening reception this coming Sunday, August 11th, from 2-5 pm.

The exhibition includes 11 framed pieces from my Iceland residency last summer, and you can check out work from all of the gallery artists as well. If you’d like to see more of my Iceland photographs from last summer as a sneak preview, I’ve finally put up a gallery of this work on my website.

Melt Down Opens in Portland

The wonderful Melt Down exhibition from earlier this year at the Center for Maine Contemporary Art in Rockland travels south to Portland’s Lewis Gallery (at the primary Portland Public Library at 5 Monument Square) in an exhibition that extends through September 21st. The traveling exhibit is a bit smaller in terms of included work but should still be amazing.

The opening reception is this Friday, August 2nd, from 6-8 pm. I’ll unfortunately miss the opening as I’ll be picking up my daughter from Girl Scout camp on the other side of the state, but I highly recommend seeing this exhibition.

This is the first update in a long while as I’ve been posting news in another place the last six months, but that experiment is now over and I’m back here.

So, to begin catching up, I’m included in a group exhibition at the absolutely lovely Thos. Moser gallery in Freeport, Maine, through November 2nd, 2019. Selections from my Pyrotechnic project are included. Ten other photographers are included in the show and it is definitely worth a visit.

Harmony of the Spheres Exhibition in Boston

A solo exhibition of my Harmony of the Spheres project just opened at the Garner Center for Photographic Exhibitions at the New England School of Photography in Waltham, MA. Next Tuesday, November 6th, is the opening exhibition from 6-7:30 pm. So if you’d rather avoid hitting refresh on your browser on election night as you agonize about the future of our country, consider joining us as we ponder the mysteries of the cosmos instead.

But make sure you vote first!

The exhibition extends until December 7th. The hours for the gallery are Monday-Thursday 9-5 and Friday-Sunday 10-4.

Artist Talk tomorrow night (Aug. 16th)

My exhibition closes on this coming Sunday, and I'll be here at Pascal Hall (86 Pascal Ave. in Rockport) every day until then, 1-5 pm (except for closing early at 4 pm on Saturday). I do have an artist talk tomorrow night from 5:30-6:30 pm on Thursday, August 16th, so I'll be open late that day. Hope to see you during the exhibition!
